*The bell sounds once, twice, then a third time.*

*Fade in*
*Scene opens up on Tom Gorgas, walking around backstage at a WCCW event, next to a figure that’s hard to identify at first. As they walk into audio range, we can tell TG’s talking to the free agent Gaetan LaValle. We join Gorgas in mid-harangue…*
Tom Gorgas: … and then, my dad shot her. It was weird. But back to the point, I get that you’re shopping around, and I guess I kinda respect that.
LaValle: Thanks. Please understand, I *have* roots and loyalties, it’s just…
Tom Gorgas (cutting him off): - nobody’s running the business there, right now. I get that. Hell, you’ve had- what- three promotions dry up on you? If that was me, I’d be doing the same. But that just brings me around to why you’ve got to look at Texas, son- WCCW’s the longest-standing member of the Alliance.
We’ve got the history, the tradition… hell- look at this building! You think the Sportatorium’d be still standing if it weren’t for WCCW? No chance! What I’m gettin’ at is that you don’t have to worry about where the checks are coming from- this place is rock-solid and going nowhere but up. Big plans. BIG plans. And I can make you part of ‘em.
LaValle: I see. So, what do you propose?
Gorgas: …well, the main thing is- I want that TV Title shot you’ve got in your back pocket. The more gold we’ve got walking around in the territory, the better it gets for us. If you’re going to bring it home the way you say you will? I want it here.
Hell, even if Fury brings it home, first, I figure I can make headlines with you two on the rematch. Or you can go grab it off Talon Wilkinson, and we can get the roster gunning for you. That bother you?
LaValle: No.
Gorgas: BETTER not.
LaValle: Mister Gorgasse, I’ve always been clear- I just want a good arena, crowds to play to, and quality competition. I don’t NEED any ‘feather beds’. I can’t show what I claim, if the fights are all ‘push-overs’, hm?
Gorgas: -well, hell! Have you SEEN our roster? Just about everyone in it’s bigger and stronger than you, and some of ‘em are pretty damn quick to boot. You want challenges, I KNOW I can supply that.
Now, what’s it gonna take to get you to sign? We’ve got stability, we’ve got guys to fight, we’ve got tradition- hell, we’ve got fans whose grandmas were fans back in the day! You’ve read the contract- it’s loaded. So… what’s it gonna be?
LaValle: I just would like a bit longer to… scout? Yes, “scout”. See how things are.
Gorgas: Fair enough. We don’t really NEED a decision ‘til after the Thesz anyhow- speaking of which, we’ve got a couple spots opening. Want to try out for one?
*LaValle makes a ‘waving it off’ gesture*
LaValle: No, but thank you. I’m going to be in Texas a little while longer… maybe I could see a show?
Gorgas: Not a problem- we’ve got Nightmare coming up, we’ll just comp you a ticket at ringside.
LaValle: Maybe, I could sit with the Announce Team? Call a little?
Gorgas: Wait, you want me to give an unsigned free agent mic time? What makes you think I’m gonna do THAT?
LaValle: Well, I was talking with Mr Batee up in New York, and he let me do that, so…
*Gorgas is clearly not thrilled by the idea of being outbid by Batee.*
Gorgas: Aw, what the hell! It’s not like we haven’t got an eight-second delay. Knock yourself out, LaValle. But I’d BETTER hear back from you, soon- got me?
LaValle: GOT you.
*The two shake hands, and we fade out.*

*scene shifts to the inside of a sold-out New Orleans Arena.  We head down to ringside, and Marc Lowrance.*

Marc Lowrance:  Good evening, wrestling fans, and welcome to Nightmare!!!  *thunderous pop from the fans*  I’m Marc Lowrance, and my partner Terry Michaels has been released by this company.  Therefore, I’ll be going it alone for a bit.  *just then, the lights in the arena go dark, as the Jumbotron lights up with-

[Video package for next Nightare, then]

[“One More Time” by Daft Punk starts playing over the PA.]

[Without a ring announcement, Gaetan LaValle comes in from AROUND the entryway (rather than down the ramp) wearing a tailored suit and flashing his trademark “L.V” handsigns. There’s recognition from some of the crowd, who put their hands out for him to ‘five, as he makes his way toward the announce table.]

Marc Lowrance- For these upcoming Thesz qualifiers, we’ve got a guest commentator- Gaetan LaValle, former NWA TV Champion. Fans, recall Gaetan LaValle’s successful TV Title defense against The “Modern Day Messiah” earlier this year. He’s got a guaranteed rematch FOR that title, and may be fighting under the WCCW banner. That would be… something, I guess- seeing him Frenching up Texas full-time?

[LaValle arrives at ringside. LaValle shakes the hands of the announce team, puts a headset on, and sits.]
LaValle: Hello… hello, glad to be back in Texas-and at the Sportatorium too, The Louvre of pro-wrestling!

Marc Lowrance-  Just came in from Paris, didn’t you?

LaValle: C’est vrai- it took me three hours to drive in, too…

Marc Lowrancd-  Yes, the I-30 CAN be a bear- but Gaetan, I HAVE to ask- with that TV Title shot as a trump-card, you could name your price- why *wouldn’t* you try for a shot at the Thesz? FOUR slots opened up, you know!
[LaValle pauses.]
LaValle (coldly): I have reasons.
(Announcer 1): Yes, of course- but what ARE-
LaValle: REASONS.
[beat]

Marc Lowrance- Before this thing really gets going, what are your predictions on this, GAETAN?

LaValle:   If It were a one-to-one match? Darkstar. But it’s easy to see- they’re going to mob up on this, so ONE of them, at least, gets into the tournament… (sigh)… I hate when someone has an answer to ‘you and what army’…. So. Barring a miracle, or a Darkstars posse showing up? Jousma.

[The Rising Star gets up. Jousma covers The Deadman. Referee Timothy James makes the count. ...1 ...2 The Deadman kicks out. ]

LaValle- I saw Jousma throw his Alpha Title away... Lots of promotions closed this year, but even Steve Scanlon held onto the old Evolution title, for the love of God…

[Both announcers groan in recognition, and a little relief that BSS is never coming back to WCCW.]
LaValle-… I just don’t know how that sits with me.

Marc Lowrance- Wait- didn’t you do the same thing with your “European Title”?

LaValle: Ah, that’s different. See, what he did disrespects the work of everyone that put their faith in that title. Me, I just disrespect every one too cowardly to come take me on for mine…. which was every single wrestler in the NWA, last I counted…

[Jonathan Darkstar out of nowhere with a flying knee lift. The Rising Star hits the mat hard. Jonathan covers Jousma hooking the leg. Timothy James counts the pin. ...1 Jousma escapes. ]

Marc Lowrance - What a big ass wuss! He uses a move and actually thinks that he can win!

LaValle-  I understand the Jonathan Darkstar is a legend around here, being one of the mainstays of WCCW.  -He IS a great flagbearer for WCCW. But, like the Olympics- the flagbearer just marches in front of the Olympians, doesn’t he? Whether he likes it or not- Jousma is right, Darkstar must redefine himself. It’s a new day.

[Jousma climbs to his feet. The Rising Star climbs to the top rope, jumps on Jonathan Darkstar and Tornado DDT's him onto the mat. ]

Marc Lowrance - I can't believe that Jason Jousma didn't win it right there!

LaValle- We all know Jousma has his Little Buddy waiting to run in, but at this rate, he may not NEED it!

Marc Lowrance-  You know, GAETAN, there may be a possibility that Sudden Impact could face each other in the Thesz Invitational.  Your thoughts on that?

LaValle- ‘Who wins?’ “Who CARES” would be the better question! It obviously wouldn’t even be a match- one would just drop for the other, faster than an Acapulco Cliff Diver.

LaValle - Nice power move by Jason Jousma.

[Jason Jousma sends Jonathan into Timothy James he goes down. Jason stomps Jonathan. Jonathan gets up. Jason executes the German suplex on The Deadman. Jason is back on his feet. [Tom Sawyer by Rush plays as Terence makes his way to ringside ]

[The house lights in the arena begin to dim as the intro to 'Scum of the Earth' by Rob Zombie begins to play over the PA. Red and white strobe lights illuminate the entrance area as we see the WCCW Champion emerge from behind the curtain. Wearing the all new black 'Sudden Impact' basketball jersey, and a pair of black shorts with 'Sudden Impact' and 'Fury' written on them in red, Chris Fury slowly makes his way toward the ring with a grin on his face and the WCCW Heavyweight Title belt over his right shoulder.]

Terry Michaels: He better not be, cause Jousma is banned from ringside!

[After a couple seconds we see 'The Vagabond' RJ Harris step into the arena to a chrous of boo's. With a smile on his face Fury shakes his hand, and we see a closeup of Terence waiting in the ring with a less than pleased expression on his face.]

Marc Lowrance: RJ Harris! Fury pulled a quick one here, knowing Jousma is banned from helping him out here, he went out and recruited 'The Vagabond', a man with no love loss at all for Terence Harris!

Terry Michaels: Ya gotta give it to Fury, he's always got a plan. That's why he's our champ!

[Fury enters the ring and hands his WCCW Title to the official and removes the jersey he wore to the ring, as RJ stays outside the ring with his eyes locked on Harris. The music fades out as the house lights come back on and the ref calls for the bell to start the match.]

[The Natural gives Fury a reverse neckbreaker. Terence Harris gets up. Fury moves back to his feet. Chris Fury uses a snap mare takeover on Terence. ]

Marc Lowrance: Now, level with us, Gaetan- you’re out here for Chris Fury’s head, aren’t you?

LaValle: What? NO!

Marc Lowrance: Oh, c’mon! If you book your rematch for the TV Title, he’s ONLY one of the two you could be meeting. You mean to say you’re NOT here to soften him up?

LaValle: No! Well… yes, I’m here to _scout_, but I’m an athlete, not a mugger. I’m sure Chris Fury knows I’m in his future… IF he gets past Talon Wilkinson, at the Lou. And THAT is in-no-way etched in the stones. He will have to work at his chance to get me. All I need do is be prepared.

Marc Lowrance: Chris Fury, aiming to both win here to be IN the Thesz itself, AND compete against Talon Wilkinson. That’s… FOUR matches, on the same night! Either he’s got more guts than brains, or he’s got something up his sleeve.

LaValle: If he does fight down four wrestlers in one evening, he’ll have MY respect, I’ll say it now. But I think, yes, his sleeves have something up them.

[Harris and Chris Fury go to the floor Timothy James starts the count (.1) (..2) The Natural punches Chris Fury in the head. ]

LaValle- “I’ve watched Fury’s tapes… he’s gotten better. That’s rare. Usually, wrestlers settle in a rut. But, you see there? He missed the obvious set-up, and countered. That’s wise wrestling…. I suspect he’s also covering injuries, but ’whatever keeps you in the game’, I say!”

POST-SHOW:

*scene opens in Tom Gorgas’ office.  Tom is sitting at his desk, smoking a cigg.  Jason Jousma and Chris Fury walk in.

Tom Gorgas:  Ah, there you are.  Good work tonight, you two.  Jay, you’re going to the Thesz, and so are you, Chris.

Chris Fury:  How did you pull that one off?

Gorgas:  Easy, actually.  Got a call from the NWA Championship Committee, they want you in the match for the vacant World TV Championship.  You get Talon Wilkinson, brother.  *Chris makes a face*  Yeah, I know this one ain’t going to be easy, so go get yourself ready.

*Chris walks out, and Jay is about to follow, when-*

Gorgas:  Not so fast, Jay.  Stick around a second.  *Jousma shuts the door and turns around*

Jousma:  What’s up, boss?  *Gorgas hands him a note that says simply, “I’m coming for you.”

Gorgas:  Something I should know about, Jay?  That was found taped on your locker.

Jousma:  I have no idea, boss.

Gorgas:  If this is going to bite us in the butt, I wanna know, fast.  *Jousma nods and leaves.  Seconds later, Jonathan Darkstar walks in, looking a little irate.*

Jonathan Darkstar:  I gotta bone to pick with you.

Gorgas:  This had better be good, I gotta go make arrangements for Shepherd and Phenom to get more training time.

Darkstar:  It’s Shepherd I wanna talk about.  Him and Zak are sticking their nose into this thing we got going.  What are you doing about it?  *Gorgas strokes his goatee a second, thoughtfully, then speaks*

Gorgas:  They are trying to be annoyances, are they?  Tell you what I’m going to do.  They need a tuneup match before their World Tag Team Title shot at the Thesz, how about they get a match with your cousins?

Darkstar:  That ought to be an interesting matchup, actually.

Gorgas:  How’s this?  The WCCW Tag Team Titles are on the line.  *Jon nods*  Good.  Now get outta here, I got work to do.  *Jon leaves*  He fell for it, like I knew he would.

*scene shifts to following Jon.*

Darkstar:  Gorgas is up to something.  I don’t know what, but I will keep my eyes on him and Sudden Impact.  If what I fear is happening is true, then I will have to deal with it.  Time for a little insurance.
